Festival De Cannes 2013 – Bollywood Beauties

18 May

India being the ‘guest country’ at the 2013 Festival De Cannes and celebrating one hundred years of Indian cinema makes this year a memorable one for us Indians.

India is the third guest country at Cannes, the other two being Egypt (2011) and Brazil, this year. The festival is held annually in Cannes, France. It previews films of all genres, including documentaries from around the world. It is open to the film fraternity and the festival is a great place to spot celebrities from around the world, dressed in their finest, and looking their best. The Festival De Cannes 2013 is being held from the 15th to the 26th of May. This excites me because a lot of the Indian film fraternity are at the festival this year. It gives me a chance to observe and discuss the looks that the actresses sport this year.

Sonam Kapoor

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor, represented Bollywood at the festival inauguration on the 15th of May.  She adorned an outfit by Anamika Khanna Couture. This was a white laced sari  with gold embroidered borders. The look was completed with a detailed bodice and jacket. But, outfit aside, I love the makeup Sonam wore. It perfected her traditional avatar with the nathni (nose ring) that she sported from her mother’s, (Sunita Kapoor) jewelry line.

Sonam Kapoor MakeupShe went for a bold brow, traditional winged eyeliner over a bronze eye shadow and plum red lips. She finished the look with subtle contours and highlights.

On day two of the Cannes Festival, Sonam wore a D&G outfit to the Jeune & Jolie screening.

She looked radiant on day two. She kept her makeup subtle by going in for slightly flushed cheeks, pink lips, nude eyes with khol, liner and falsies. She completed the look with side-swept wavy hair.

Vidya Balan

Another Bollywood actress bringing India into the limelight at Cannes is Vidya Balan. She is a jury member at the 2013 Film Festival. Staying true to her traditional preferences, Vidya is wearing Sabyasachi creations at Cannes.

Vidya Balan

Upon arrival at Cannes, Vidya looked stunning in this maroon Sabyasachi outfit. She went for bold smoky eyes and natural glossy lips.

At the Jury Photocall, Vidya kept her makeup at minimal. This brought the focus to her naturally beautiful features.

At the Young and the Beautiful screening, Vidya sported her signature look and smoky eyes. But she amped this up with bold accessories. Her blue bindi and necklace captured my attention first.

Freida Pinto

Apart from Vidya Balan and Sonam Kapoor, another actress who looked lovely was Freida Pinto.

Freida wore a Gucci halter gown and she accented it with a gold belt with bead details. She perfected the look with a side-braided updo. She went for the ‘minimum makeup look’ with this outfit.

For the Jeune & Jolie Screening, Freida wore a grey, detailed Sanchita gown. She completed her look with bold matte red lips and a side updo.

The dragonfly accessories she chose for her updo matched her outfit to perfection.

If you like Frieda’s updo, click the image to see how it’s done.

I hope you enjoyed the updates just as much as I did while creating them.

Have you been following the Cannes Festival? Are there celebrity looks that inspire you from the festival? I would love to know what you think about the looks I have written about. Please feel free to comment or subscribe and tell me what you think.
